Job DetailsJob Location: Lucas Christian Academy - Lucas, TX 75002Position Type: Part TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeJob Shift: DayJob Category: Education FacultyEXPECTED DAYS OF THE WEEK: (Part Time)  Mondays and Wednesdays and Fridays EXEMPTION:  Salary Exempt  GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Teaching Preparation  Create course objectives, course syllabus, and course information sheets for Bible, Language Arts, History, Science, Math, and Bible or the classes you are hired to teach.  Prepare detailed engaging lesson plans using our LCA provided curriculum with objectives and assessment on the daily plans for M,W,F.  Prepare detailed engaging lesson plans for T, Th for satellite days with details for parents to administer and oversee the lessons to completion.  Follow prescribed scope and sequence and adhere to relevant curricular and policy guidelines as they teach their assigned classes.  Put lessons on FACTS by Sunday at 5:00pm each week.   If lesson plans change during the week, email the parents that day before the students leave for the day or you leave for the day.    Create and update as necessary a curriculum notebook with all necessary documents requested by the Elementary Director.  Update grade level Curriculum Mapping instructed by the Director.  Utilize administrative time for planning, grading, and communication with parents as appropriate.  Teach via on-line when necessary or directed by the school. Communicate with parents weekly.  Instruction  Teach lessons with engaging activities when possible.  Use all teaching strategies to meet your students’ needs.  Teach by using a mix of teacher directed lessons, group activities, and individual projects.   Integrate Biblical principles and a Biblically sound philosophy of education throughout the curriculum.  Utilize valid teaching techniques to help students master necessary content and skills as defined by the relevant curriculum goals and the school’s general philosophy.  Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do their best work.  Appropriately employ a variety of instructional aids, methods and other resources that will provide creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.  Effectively use homework for drill, review, enrichment or project work.  Keep proper discipline and classroom management in the classroom and on the school premises to maintain a good teaching environment following the handbook discipline plan.  Effectively communicate parent co-teacher duties and assist administration in holding co-teachers accountable.  Inform the administration if unable to fulfill any assigned duties.    Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.  Set an expectation for and enforce excellence of foundational communicational skills (i.e. grammar, spelling, neatness of work, handwriting, public speaking skills, etc.).   Take an active role in enforcing school discipline (student code of conduct, dress code).  Non-Instructional  Teachers shall  Cooperate with the Board and Administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the school's operation.  Confer with the administration regarding any policy you are unable to support.  Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records on FACTS to meet the demands of a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress.  Update FACTS with attendance daily by 9:00am.  Grades will be imputed in FACTS weekly.  Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of student progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of probable course failure.  Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.  Maintain Satellite Day Office hours each Tue, and Thurs.  Attend all required PTF, Workshops, or Meet the Teacher Events Effectively communicate parent co-teacher duties and assist administration in holding co-teachers accountable.  Inform the administration if unable to fulfill any assigned duties.   Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.  Set an expectation for and enforce excellence of foundational communicational skills (i.e. grammar, spelling, neatness of work, handwriting, public speaking skills, etc.).   Take an active role in enforcing school discipline (student code of conduct, dress code).  QualificationsMISSION: Partnering with Christ-centered families to educate and develop fully equipped disciples.  EMPLOYEE PROFILE:  Spiritually, the employee shall possess characteristics that reflect:  Acceptance without reservation of Lucas Christian Academy’s statements of Faith, Statement of Marriage, and Human Sexuality  A strong clear Christian testimony.  A mature, godly spirit   A person of faith, and prayer, and a minister of the gospel  Personally, the employee’s life shall reflect:  A lifestyle of biblical integrity of a Christian lifestyle  A spirit of dedication, commitment, flexibility, and responsiveness  The ability to listen and respond to counsel  Ministers of the Gospel    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     Become familiar with and keep updated on all our Emergency Protocols, Policies, and Procedures  Contribute to school systems effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives  Establish and adjust objectives by following school guidelines and school goals, plans, policies, and procedures.  Maintain records by documenting accordingly  Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies as deemed by your supervisor  Embrace biblical truth, strive for excellence, and model Christ-like leadership  Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations  Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish educational results and departmental requests/needs  Meet requirements for educational development related to your position certifications  Complete continuing education as deemed by your supervisor  Willingness to take developmental assessments  Background checks, Ministry Safe, Drug tests, and all compliance requests  Attend Parent Teacher Fellowship, all school Workshops  Attend In-service, assist in set up and tear down of all school PTFs and Workshops as deemed by your supervisor  Support Leadership Decisions  Other duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor, Team lead, Head of School   PHYSICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS   Regularly standing and walking around   Regularly sitting at the computer, requiring repetitive finger motion and manual dexterity
