MORAVIAN ACADEMY

Gifted Specialist

Full-Time • 10-Month • Swain Campus • Grades 1–8

Ā

In the role of Gifted Specialist, you'll be the architect of possibility for students whose minds move faster, dig deeper, and ask harder questions than the standard curriculum anticipates. You'll identify gifted learners across grades 1–8, design challenge-based and accelerated learning experiences, and partner with classroom teachers to extend the curriculum rather than simply speed through it.

This isn't extra worksheets for kids who finish early. It's a deliberate, evidence-based program built to keep our most advanced learners curious, challenged, and growing - supported with the same rigor and intention we bring to every other kind of learning difference.

You'll use assessment data to identify students for gifted programming, author and monitor individualized Gifted IEPs, and serve as a key voice on our Student Support Team. When you design an independent research project, compact a unit, or open a door to material two grades ahead, you're not filling time; you're making sure our brightest students stay hungry to learn.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Gifted Education, Education, or a closely related field; master's and/or state certification preferred
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enrichment and differentiation programming for high-ability elementary and middle school students
  • Deep understanding of gifted learner characteristics, asynchronous development, and evidence-based gifted education pedagogy
  • Proficiency using assessment data to identify gifted students and to develop, monitor, and adjust individualized Gifted IEPs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers to extend and differentiate core curriculum
  • Experience with curriculum compacting, acceleration models, or project-based enrichment preferred
  • Background in an independent school or college-preparatory setting preferred
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education preferred
  • Successful completion of required Pennsylvania background clearances (Act 34, Act 151, Act 114) prior to start of employment

If you're ready to champion the students who need to be challenged, not just kept busy, we'd love to meet you. Apply through Moravian Academy's employment portal.
