JOB SUMMARY
The Laser Operator performs all tasks involved in the production of Allentown Inc. products. This position will operate the computer-controlled laser to cut parts from a larger blank or from fixtures. Uses printouts to determine specified operation code and enters commands, using control console, to retrieve programmed instructions.Â

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Â
- Press console buttons to actuate laser beam that automatically trims excess metal from sheet or tubing.Â
- Observe light indicator on control panel or monitor to determine if component meets specifications.Â
- Removes trimmed component from shuttle table or from holding fixture and examines component for cut quality and that the part matches the drawing and is within tolerances.
- Adjusts laser, using hand tools, such as Allen wrench, or box wrenches.Â
- Places work piece on table manually or by using crane.Â
- Operates laser according to the machines operating manual and department guidelines in operation of equipment.
- Sets up and operates laser to cut parts to the developed size on blueprints and prepare these parts to go to the next operation.
- Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
- Keeps an accurate count of every part of every job worked on and stacks parts neatly in an organized manner.
- Completes daily production sheet with jobs worked on.
- Keeps running total sheets accurately and attached to the blueprint.
- Packages finished goods into correct boxes when needed.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Follows all safety rules and quality standards including all company policies and procedures.
- Performs job assignments in a safe and productive manner while maintaining high quality levels.
- Adheres to standardized work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
- Keeps work areas clean and organized while taking care of all equipment and facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Must be able to transfer what is on the blueprint to a flat layout.
- Ability to use various measuring tools such as calipers, squares, protractor and measuring tapes.
- Advanced computer skills (Windows XP, Windows 10 and Windows 95)
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume production environment under tight time constraints.
- Must possess an understanding of production procedures.
- Must adhere to health and safety regulations (consistent use of P.P.E)
- High level of attention to detail
- Must have excellent time management skills and work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.

- Must be able to stand continuously for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and transport 50 lbs. at a time.
