Job DetailsJob Location: Allentown, PA 18104Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: DayMEDICAL ASSISTANT--Full-Time                                                   Employee Type:           Full-Time – some travel required Work Setting – Outpatient Orthopaedic Practice Day Shift / No Holidays / No Weekends / No Call Full Benefits Package for Eligible Employees – Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, LTD & AD&D  Insurance, PTO,  Paid Holidays, Sick Leave and 401K            Patient-Centered Care – Be part of a team that puts patients first!    Summary:  As a member of our Clinical team, the Medical Assistant position is responsible for ensuring Patient Care Excellence by assisting in the delivery of health care management.  The Medical Assistant actively participates and supports the clinical teams and providers. The Medical Assistant will behave in a professional manner and promote the core values of OAA Orthopaedic Specialists.  Essential Functions:  •    Escorts Patient to exam room and prepare for physical evaluation by obtaining vital signs. •    Conducts patient interview to obtain medical history including past medical and surgical history, allergies and present condition. •    Verifies all paperwork is complete and place demographic label in chart. •    Reviews chart for completeness and accuracy by ensuring all pertinent studies/diagnostics are available and last physician note is in chart. •    Displays MRI films or other studies brought by patient for office visit. •    Assists physician with procedures.  •    Assists patients with mobility.  Provide wheelchair and help patient to next area as needed. •    Draws injections for physician. •    Prepares specimens to send to lab. •    Provides patient education as needed. •    Prepares exam rooms.  Clean and disinfect any contaminated counters or exam tables.  •    Prepares instruments for autoclave. •    Runs weekly spore test for autoclave. •    Inventories and restocks work areas. •    Disposes of bio-hazardous waste. •    Acts as liaison between triage nursing and physician by communicating patient information in an accurate and timely manner. •    Ensures patient and personal safety while in office. •    Follows blood borne pathogen policy. •    Maintains confidentiality of all patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations. •    Attends in-house continuing education seminars offered to staff. •    Documents all pertinent patient information in the EMR including medications, orders, radiology, etc •    Other duties may be assigned. QualificationsQualifications:  •    Minimum of one-year certificate from college or technical school and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. •    Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program. •    Current CPR/AED Certification a plus. •    Required Certifications: o    Act 34 PA Criminal Background. o    Act 151 PA Child Abuse History. o    Act 114 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance. •    Strong computer experience, electronic medical records experience.  •    Strong interpersonal/customer service skills. •    Previous medical office experience including surgical and office scheduling and patient education. •    Excellent verbal communication skills. •    Experience working in a positive team environment. •    Orthopaedic and/or surgical experience preferred.
