Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: Lehigh Valley International Airport - Allentown, PA 18109Position Type: Full TimeTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: Must be available weekends and HolidaysJob Category: Protective ServicesThe Airport Police are a municipal police agency assigned to perform law enforcement functions at Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA).  Principal duties include response to emergencies, general and directed patrol, investigations of crimes, investigation of non-criminal incidents, traffic enforcement /control, and other law enforcement services / duties as required.  Airport Police often coordinate with federal agencies like the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the FBI. Essential Functions Enforcement of applicable federal, state, or local laws, rules, and regulations. Prevention, investigation and detection of crime. Enforce TSA approved Airport security program. Make arrests and appear in court to present evidence and testify as needed Possess MPOETC Certification, or current valid examination score, and complete all required training to maintain an active certification number. Enforce Airport Security Program in compliance with 49 CFR 1542. Professionally communicate over two-way radio, telephone, and email.  Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Additional Responsibilities Periodically performs foot and vehicle patrols.  Stand for extended periods of time.  Maintain traffic flow on airport roadways and issue citations when appropriate Maintain law and order. Maintain law enforcement presence through high-visibility patrol at the airport. Maintain proper logbooks, reports, and forms.  Monitor and report potential security violations/hazards. Maintain compliance with Wildlife Hazard Management program. Additional duties as assigned. QualificationsQualifications High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). PA Law Enforcement Academy (Act 120) Diploma. MPOETC Certification or current valid examination score. Knowledge of PA Crimes Code, Vehicle Code, and court procedures. Satisfactorily pass psychological evaluation. Skilled in the proper use and care of firearms as well as competency in using lethal/less than lethal weapons. Possess good observation skills and ability to analyze situations, take corrective action and make logical decisions under pressure. Ability to effectively deal with co-workers and the public. Must be able to respond to emergency requests for assistance. PC skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and other applicable computer programs. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Able to respond and perform in severe weather conditions. Possess a valid driver’s license. Must- Have Requirements Must be at least 21 years old. Must wear uniforms provided (uniforms must be clean and presentable) and personal protective equipment.                          Must be available to work permanent or rotating shifts, split shifts, nights, weekends and holidays as required.  Successfully pass continual training, security and employment requirements. Must possess acceptable English language skills to include speaking, reading, writing and comprehension. Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance; stoop, kneel and crouch or crawl. Must be able to use hands and fingers to type, handle bags, boxes, objects or controls. Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift up to 99 pounds with assistance. Vision abilities include, with or without corrective lenses, close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Sufficient auditory ability, with or without audiological devices, to decipher telephone/radio communications, interact with the public and others, hear alarms, including vehicle and other warning signals, understand speech in noisy areas, understand whispered speech, and be able to localize sounds.  Must not exceed average hearing loss of 25 decibels. Have the physical ability and awareness to safely navigate in and around equipment and aircraft. Able and willing to work in inclement weather, including extreme cold and warm temperatures.
