Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join a well-established public accounting firm in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with 3–5 years of public accounting experience and a strong concentration in tax preparation, compliance, and planning.

The ideal candidate has experience preparing both business and complex individual tax returns, enjoys working directly with clients, and is looking to continue developing their technical expertise within a collaborative public accounting environment. Candidates should have a background that is primarily focused on tax rather than audit or assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, S corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and other business entities.

  • Prepare complex individual income tax returns, including returns for business owners, executives, and high-net-worth individuals.

  • Assist with year-round tax planning and develop strategies to help clients manage their tax obligations effectively.

  • Research federal and state tax regulations and provide guidance on tax compliance matters.

  • Communicate directly with clients regarding tax documentation, deadlines, compliance requirements, and planning opportunities.

  • Identify potential tax-saving opportunities and provide practical recommendations based on each client's circumstances.

  • Ensure tax filings comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Collaborate with partners, managers, and other accounting professionals on client engagements.

  • Assist with tax projections, special tax projects, consulting engagements, and other advisory services.

  • Maintain accurate client documentation and deliver high-quality work within established deadlines.

  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of public accounting experience with a strong emphasis on tax.

  • Professional experience should be primarily tax-focused rather than audit or assurance.

  • Hands-on experience preparing business entity tax returns, including corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.

  • Experience preparing complex individual income tax returns.

  • Strong understanding of federal and state income tax regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines, particularly during peak tax season.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.

  • CPA license preferred but not required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.

  • Ability to work on-site in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
