JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Champions Craft Academy Construction Technology Instructor
JOB GOAL:
The Construction Technology Instructor will create a safe academic environment that encourages student engagement, while effectively delivering the program curriculum. As such, the instructor is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that produces student competency in the discipline area.
RESPONSIBLE TO: School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
ā A high school diploma or General Education Equivalent (GED).
ā Actively performed work in the construction, repair, inspection or design as they pertain to the residential, commercial or industrial industry for a minimum of three (3) years.
ā Extensive knowledge and understanding of the construction trade and safety standards related to construction.
ā Good communication skills.
ā Basic computer skills demonstrating effective use of Microsoft Office.
ā Ability to complete objectives without direct supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ā Maintain a professional demeanor with all students, coworkers, and community members.
ā Provide excellent classroom instruction through positive and inspiring learning experiences for all students using a variety of teaching methods and making every learning situation relevant to career preparation.
ā Prepare detailed lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory demonstrations for all units of instruction.
ā Recommend changes in the curriculum to maintain a current program.
ā Monitor the progress for each student in the program.
ā Work as a teammate with other instructors and support staff.
ā Update and continually improve your own teaching techniques and skills and successfully complete all required.
ā Teach the depth and scope of the class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog and relate the instructions to careers and employer expectations.
ā Prepare and grade examinations based upon course objectives, publish lesson schedules, and return all assignments in a timely manner.
ā Work creatively in all classes, encourage students, and maintain satisfactory retention.
ā Begin and end each class at the designated times, providing a full period of instruction.
ā Accurately maintain attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy, submit class roster daily, maintain a separate record of attendance and grades that is clearly labeled and turned in at the end of the term.
ā Attend faculty meetings, and other CCA events as required by the Alabaster City Schools
ā Participate in extracurricular activities, such as campus and community events.
ā Supervise all laboratory experience.
ā Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
ā Maintain proper inventory of all equipment and tools assigned to the program.
ā Maintain an active advisory committee which meets twice a year, minimally.
ā Visit industry to develop and maintain a good rapport with employers and to monitor students participating in internships.
ā Take an active role in the advice and counseling of students.
ā Assist students to find employment in an occupation related to training.
ā Contribute to the overall mission of the Champions Craft Academy by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month (187 days) contract.
SALARY RANGE: Appropriate placement on current salary schedule.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of Board policy.
