Description:

The role of the Personal Computer Support Technician is to provide end user computer, mobile device or printer break-fix services at NASA Marshal Space Flight Center (MSFC).  These services include hardware and software installation and removal, data transfers and restoration of an end user’s device to full operability when an incident occurs that renders hardware unstable, equipment is lost, damaged, destroyed, inoperable, or exhibits degraded performance. Restoration includes the tasks that are necessary to return managed hardware to an operational state, including correction of hardware faults via repair or replacement, replacement in case of loss or damage, configuration of software load, and restoration or transfer of all user data to replacement device.  Tasks will be assigned to technicians via the ITSM system. 

 

Responsibilities:

•            Software installation, and configurations.

•            Perform technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages.

•            Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals.

•            Configure operating systems.

•            Load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs.

•            Troubleshoots computer problems, performs hardware and software diagnostics, coordinates needed repairs.

•            Resolves computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area networks.

•            Participates in the evaluation of system configuration and software.


Minimum Qualifications:

•            High School degree or equivalent

•            2 years of related experience

•            Must be U.S. Citizen

•            Must be able to lift & move equipment up to 40 lbs.

•            Familiarity with working with a ITSM system

•            Experience supporting Windows 11

 

Preferred Qualifications :

•            Experience supporting the MSFC NASA IT environment

o   Troubleshooting & resolving IT issues

o   Knowledge with NASA security policies & procedures

o   Familiarity with NASA’s ServiceNow ITSM system

•            Mac experience

•            Current NASA background check & confidence level of at least 45

•            Current access to Redstone Arsenal

•            Familiarity with the MSFC campus
