Are you someone who values detail, respect, and meaningful work? As a Seasonal Cemetery Maintenance Worker, you’ll help maintain cemetery grounds and facilities with care and professionalism, ensuring a peaceful and well-kept environment for visitors and families.
This entry-level seasonal position performs maintenance work involving cemetery grounds, equipment, and facilities. Duties may include grounds maintenance, assisting with the opening and closing of graves, locating and measuring grave sites, performing fill and compaction, maintaining headstones and surrounding areas, and completing custodial and facility upkeep tasks.
Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather and generally involves full-time hours, with schedules that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on service needs (with flexibility for summer activities). This role requires physical endurance, attention to detail, and a respectful approach to sensitive work.
Requirements

- Be comfortable performing physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditionsÂ
- Be able to lift, dig, shovel, compact, and perform manual tasks for extended periodsÂ
- Be reliable, respectful, and able to follow established procedures and safety protocolsÂ
- Be able to work independently and as part of a teamÂ
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkersÂ
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance tools, equipment, and methodsÂ
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipmentÂ
- Working knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautionsÂ
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
Typical duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Mowing, trimming, and maintaining cemetery grounds and landscapingÂ
- Measuring, locating, excavating, filling, and compacting gravesÂ
- Assisting with the opening, closing, and repair of gravesÂ
- Maintaining equipment, tools, and work areasÂ
- Performing custodial duties in cemetery buildings and facilitiesÂ
- Collecting and disposing of litter and solid wasteÂ
- Opening, closing, locking, and unlocking cemetery facilities as neededÂ
Special Requirements:
- Valid state driver’s license requiredÂ
- Ability to drive standard transmission vehicles
