Enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and helping maintain spaces the community uses every day? As a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker, you’ll assist with the care, upkeep, and improvement of the City’s parks, recreation facilities, athletic fields, and public open spaces.
This entry-level seasonal position performs a wide range of maintenance duties involving grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment. Typical work includes mowing and maintaining athletic fields and open spaces; caring for trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf; maintaining irrigation systems; inspecting and repairing playgrounds and park amenities; performing minor building maintenance; and supporting recreation programs and special events.
Work is performed primarily outdoors in all types of weather and generally involves full-time hours, with schedules that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs (with summer flexibility).Â

To be successful in this role, you should:
- Be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditionsÂ
- Be able to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting, digging, shoveling, raking, mowing, and standing or walking for long durationsÂ
- Be reliable, organized, and able to follow established routines, schedules, and safety proceduresÂ
- Be able to work independently or as part of a teamÂ
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the publicÂ
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Basic knowledge of equipment, materials, and methods used in grounds and facility maintenanceÂ
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn and turf equipment, and maintenance machineryÂ
- Working knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautionsÂ
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructionsÂ
Typical duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Mowing and maintaining parks, athletic fields, and open spacesÂ
- Maintaining irrigation systems and assisting with sprinkler repair and installationÂ
- Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining playground equipment, courts, park furniture, restrooms, and drinking fountainsÂ
- Performing minor building maintenance such as painting, basic plumbing, carpentry, and fence repairsÂ
- Planting, pruning, fertilizing, seeding, watering, and general landscape careÂ
- Assisting with setup and teardown for recreation programs, sports facilities, and special eventsÂ
- Supporting construction and improvement of park facilities, including playground installationÂ
Special Requirements:
- Valid state driver’s license requiredÂ
- Ability to drive standard transmission vehicles
