Enjoy hands-on work, being outdoors, and contributing to essential community services? As a Seasonal Water/Sewer Worker, you’ll assist the Public Works Department with the maintenance and repair of water and sewer infrastructure, helping keep the City’s systems safe and operational.
This entry-level seasonal position performs semi-skilled and skilled tasks under the supervision of full-time staff, including inspecting, maintaining, and repairing water and sewer lines, operating equipment, assisting with construction or maintenance projects, and performing general grounds upkeep.
Work is primarily outdoors in all kinds of weather and may involve full-time seasonal hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays, depending on operational needs. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in public works, water distribution, and sewer maintenance.

To be successful in this role, you should:
- Be 18 years of age or olderÂ
- Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsÂ
- Be able to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting, digging, shoveling, and standing or walking for extended periodsÂ
- Be reliable, follow directions, and work independently or as part of a teamÂ
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the publicÂ
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Basic knowledge of tools, materials, and procedures used in water and sewer maintenance (training provided)Â
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, small machinery, and equipment used in maintenance and repair tasksÂ
- Awareness of safety practices and first aidÂ
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral instructionsÂ
Typical duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with inspection, maintenance, and repair of water mains, sewer lines, and related infrastructureÂ
- Operating basic maintenance tools, hand tools, and equipment safelyÂ
- Assisting with digging, trenching, and backfillingÂ
- Performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipmentÂ
- Collecting and disposing of litter and debris at work sitesÂ
- Supporting special projects or emergency operations as neededÂ
Special Requirements:
- Valid state driver’s license requiredÂ
- CDL preferred but not requiredÂ
- Willingness to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
