Position Overview:

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing the design of technical, retail orientated, 

refrigerated display products from concept to delivery. This position will develop, support, and manage 

design and development teams. This role will provide technical guidance to internal and external 

stakeholders on all EMI Industries, LLC designed and or manufactured products. To additionally work 

with appointed external manufacturers to ensure a sound technical knowledge of their products and 

that this in turn is available to the wider business as appropriate.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure compliance of all regulatory requirements by ensuring both our staff and products are 

suitably qualified, accredited and registered to the most appropriate standards both within the 

United Kingdom and internationally. 

• Develop and promote a culture of continuous improvement with the wider design / technical 

and support teams. 

• Ensure all product design, re-design and development maintains a clear focus on reducing 

energy consumption and ensuring industry leading best practice is observed and implemented 

at every opportunity.

• Manage and support the ongoing creation and development of technical support information to 

all stakeholders. 

• Possess an overview and understanding of our clients’ specifications, offer guidance to the 

regional contract teams, ensure good practice is observed and advise where Client specification 

is absent.

• Conduct design reviews periodically on a selective, national basis to ensure standards and 

procedures are being adhered to.

• Provide technical expertise in terms of Client presentations to assist the Business Development 

personnel.

• Represent the Company at Trade Associations and Technical Seminars and disseminate relevant 

information to ensure the Company’s technical staff are kept abreast of developments within 

the industry.

• Work with QA staff to ensure relevant procedures are adhered to by self and teams.

• Manage escalated issues, which cannot be resolved locally, to next in line and Production 

Manager.

• Maintain cleanliness and all safety standards in assigned area.

• Support other departments as necessary.

• Perform additional assignments in accordance with the Manager’s direction.

• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of Total Equivalent Warming Impact and Building Research Establishment 

Assessment Methods

• Knowledge and comprehensive awareness of F-Gas regulations

• Knowledge of 3D CAD, Revit, EPDM and SolidWorks packages

• Computer literate with a thorough working knowledge of MS Office packages (Office, Word, 

Excel, PowerPoint)

• Excellent time management and organizational skills 

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to travel overseas as a representative of the business

• Ability to work in a demanding, multi-task environment

• Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and vendors

• Ability to maintain and continually improve technical and professional abilities described above, 

as well as those required to perform role

Education and/or Experience:

• Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Electrical Engineering or extensive experience within a 

manufacturing environment.

• Obtain and/or maintain professional membership and association or accreditation from suitable 

industry bodies such as IOR / BRA.

• Significant working experience and knowledge of refrigerated cabinet design and/or of the 

current CFD development and applications.

• Demonstratable understanding and practical knowledge of Thermodynamics.

• The working conditions are those of a normal office and on the manufacturing floor. While 

performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust and other particles found as
