Job Overview

Responsible for assisting servers with proper, prompt, and courteous service to all members & guests. Server Assistants are also responsible for the grooming of the entire restaurant and its perimeters, as well as supporting servers and service staff with refills and clearing tables. Ability to understand and communicate food and beverage selections, have a team focus mentality, adhere to club’s standards of service, maintain a professional appearance and clean work environment, as well as, display a positive and friendly attitude. Responsible for using Hot Schedules to communicate with management.

General Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge members/guests and meet or exceed their expectations. Have an acute awareness of all table flow and timing throughout one's shift. Foresee and troubleshoot problems before they occur.
  • To efficiently assist the front waiter in a friendly and courteous manner. To follow the service sequence and standards of the club, according to the trained standards.
  • To reset tables as needed before, during, and after service hours according to priorities established by the guests' needs.
  • Clear tables as the guests are finished.
  • Refill, remove or replace all beverages and drinks.
  • Help take out trays of food with large tables when available.
  • To ensure proper set up and maintenance of the service station, tables and common areas throughout the dining room.
  • To ensure sufficient set-ups for service station, including silverware, china, water according to business levels. Always prepare for 20 percent over expected business.
  • To ensure that all silverware, glasses and china are polished and set according to club standards.
  • Attends pre-service training (line-up meeting).
  • Adherence to Club’s uniform and grooming policy.
  • Knowledge of, respect for and adherence to all staff privileges and responsibilities.
  • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by manager on duty.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience / License / Qualifications:

  • Previous server assistant or busser experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and be coachable.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must speak, read, and write in English proficiently.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to speak and hear.
  • Close and distance vision.
  • Identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent walking with some standing at times.
  • Will walk for long periods of time, possibly extended distances.
  • Occasionally lifts/carries up to 50 lbs.
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly.

Working Conditions

  • May be indoor or outdoor setting depending on outlet.
  • Varied weather conditions are expected.
  • May work near toxic/caustic chemicals and with fumes or airborne particles.
  • Varying schedule to include mornings, afternoons & evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates. Mandatory holidays/member events include: Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th, Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Member-Member, Member Guest, Member Appreciation, Dicken’s Dinner & New Year’s Eve.
