Description

Summary

While upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision and values this key position is responsible for directing the performance of programs of campus maintenance, custodial, construction and security in a manner that will protect the public’s investment and support the Hospital District’s operations objectives. Such maintenance includes but is not limited to all buildings and improvements, grounds, utilities and mechanical/electrical systems, parking/roadways, equipment and vehicles. Serves as foreman, laborer, and contractor on campus constructions projects. Create and maintain annual maintenance and environmental services budgets. This is an at will position.

Job Duties

  • Maintains mechanical, electrical and controls systems. Coordinates and orders contracted services as needed to accomplish repairs
  • Using manufacturers’ recommendations and job knowledge, establishes and carries out a preventative maintenance program for physical plan, tools, equipment for which this position has responsibility
  • Serves at times as project director, assuring federal and state contract compliance, timely completion of tasks, and satisfactory sub-contractor performance of any construction or remodeling 
  • Performs maintenance of buildings, parking, walkway, and campus beautification
  • Stays alert to all campus safety hazards to be corrected in a timely manner
  • Acts as liaison with city, county, state and federal officials as it relates to fire, security and occupational safety when necessary
  • Controls inventory to meet supply needs and work within budget constraints
  • Works with Administrator as needed to prepare and maintain budgets, quality assurance and other reports required for departments to function
  • Must be willing to rotate call duties
  • Maintains and enforces all applicable WDOH and OSHA programs
  • Perform other duties and tasks as delegated

  • Professional oral and written communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Internet
  • Multi-tasking skills with the ease of changing directions upon request and need
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively, and demonstrate sensitivity to clients, visitors and staff
  • Strong organizational and prioritization aptitude
  • Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations, as well, as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in client and staff matters
  • Constant standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending and reaching throughout the day. Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be able to lift one hundred (100) pounds or more on occasion
  • A component of supervision of maintenance staff to ensure proper scheduling and execution of duties may be assigned to this position.

Experience & Education:

  • Three to five years facilities maintenance experience including supervision and inspection of construction
  • Training in mechanical and electrical systems, heating and air conditioning
  • Associates degree or other post-secondary education preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license 
  • Facilities maintenance of health care campuses experience desired
