Job Summary

Responsible for protecting Tribal Assets and providing a safe and secure environment for the guests and team members while working as an armed Security Officer. Patrols the Casino floors; warns violators of rule infractions and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. Assists in conducting in preliminary investigations, prepares written reports, networks with local public safety agencies, handles medical calls, and escorts money transfers.

Job Description

• Provides a safe and secure environment for guests and team members while patrolling the casino and outlet center. • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. Makes arrests as necessary. All apprehensions are turned over to law enforcement. • Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain whether it has been tampered with. • Watches for and reports irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked. • Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property. • Controls entrance and access to secured and restricted areas to authorize personnel. • Checks identification of patrons for age requirement for gaming and alcohol purchase; ensures badges are issues for vendors and contractors; and team member has proper identification badges; and issues temporary badges as needed. • Prepares reports on incidents, such as property damage, unusual occurrences, criminal activities, suspicious circumstances, medical incidents, arrests, and machine or equipment malfunctions. Assists in conducting preliminary investigations such as interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects as requested. Assists local public safety agencies as requested. • Reports and documents violations of regulatory functions such as Tribal Gaming Ordinance, GCR, Tribal Resolutions, Tribal Ordinances, and/or instructions, NIGC, MIC's, Policies and Procedures, and criminal violations as defined in the California Penal Code. • Escorts, protects, and secures monies during all transfers on and off Casino grounds, including fills on table games, table and machine box pulls. • Responds to emergency alarms associated with fire, presence of unauthorized persons, and/or critical incidences. Calls the Communication Center, notifies proper authorities, secures and controls all tribal assets, and permits authorized persons to enter property. • Responds and resolves guest inquiries in a timely manner. • Performs First Aid, CPR and AED as needed, if trained. • Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained. • Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Does not provide supervision to other team members. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record. • Possess a valid Guard Card, Exposed Firearms Permit, and Baton Permit (or obtains with 90 days of being hired). • Possess certification in First Aid, CPR, or AED (or obtains with 90 days of being hired). • Must pass the Security Department’s assessment test. • California Responsible Beverage Service Training required upon hire. • Must be age 21 years of age or older. • 1 to 2 years of military service, security, and/or law enforcement experience preferred. • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally in the English language, including the ability to write reports that can be understood by the CEO, COO, General Manager, Tribal Council, legal staff, court officers, and law enforcement. • Must have a high degree of common sense. • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office). • Ability to type 20 wpm (a skills test is required). • Good leadership skills. • Basic mathematical skills, such as the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to think quickly in an emergency. • Ability to deescalate high stress situations. • Ability to resolve problems as they arise and handle situations without supervision. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members of organization. • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. • Ability to work in a professional high-pressure environment while demonstrating and maintaining good personal relation/people skills and a positive attitude. • Ability to multitask and work well under stress. • Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change. • Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.
