BGF Industries is hiring for several open positions in our Finishing Department.

Quality and safety are key functions of this job. With moderate supervision this individual coordinates flow of material thru unit, makes necessary adjustments to the unit and matches up finish and running conditions to work orders in a team environment. The operator reads work orders and initiates actions to meet customer specifications, batching, and swatching instructions. He/she keys production data into the computer for product tracking and efficiency reports. He/she adjusts rheostats for tension to control width, adjusts accumulators to eliminate creases and keeps record of finish used during shift for dumpage control report. He/she plots information on control charts and takes appropriate action when process is out of control. He/she observes fabric being processed for quality, initiates process deviation reports and takes necessary actions if quality is unsatisfactory; selects and inputs appropriate menu options into computer to ensure quality take-ups and lays out fabric when not meeting rollup requirements and in the absence of a grader, inspects and lays out fabric that fails to meet the customer and internal specifications.

 

MACHINES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Computers, finishing unit, piece tickets, work orders, seamers, sewing machines, Standard Running Condition Sheets, Running Condition Deviation Sheets, cloth winders, winder conditions, pickline straighteners, fiberglass cord, hoists, jacks, shoe knife, unit schedule issued by Planning Office, mandrels, air shafts, batch oven trucks, batch ovens, etc.


MATERIALS USED:

Cuts of cloth, leader cloth, forms, tape, tubes, finishes, wrapping supplies, cleaning supplies, etc.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Department Shift Supervisor

 

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

Assists other Finishing Equipment Operators and Finishing Supervision in team efforts on unit to ensure proper processing of fabric and safety of other personnel.

PREREQUISITES:

Basic reading, writing, and math skills. HS Diploma/GED

 

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

Must satisfactorily pass Powered Industrial Truck License Program. Must wear approved uniforms provided by BGF. Minimum of 20/40 correctable eyesight.
