POSITION SCOPE

The Scraper Operator operates heavy machinery to manipulate earth and rock at a construction site. Must be able to operate a CAT 627 Push Pull Scraper according to project specifications. The individual will be responsible for servicing and maintaining equipment daily.

 

Position requires extensive overnight travel.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals
  • Assist with setup and tear down of plants
  • Perform general maintenance, repair, and service equipment as required or directed by supervisor
  • General housekeeping of equipment and plant daily or as directed by supervisor
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing 75 lb. on a regular basis
  • The use of a shovel to move material will be necessary
  • Perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by M.S.H.A. and company policy
  • Perform pre-shift inspections on equipment prior to startup
  • Report any incident to the Supervisor or safety team
  • Clean and maintain equipment -Perform routine inspection of assigned equipment and report any needed repair to the supervisor
  • Always maintain 3 points of contact on all pieces of equipment
  • Respond to signals and directions by other staff members and work in coordination with them
  • Operate the equipment in adherence to safety policies, procedures, job site and/or traffic laws
  • Report any safety violation to the Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years' operating a diverse range of heavy equipment preferred
  • Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
  • Comfort working in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
  • Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
  • Able to operate equipment efficiently to maintain project specifications
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of welding and using a cutting torch
  • Ability to read grade stakes and operate transit preferred
  • Position requires extensive overnight travel
