POSITION SCOPE
The Motor Grader Operator is responsible for safely operating a motor grader to perform rough and finish grading on roads, building pads, haul roads, and other heavy civil construction projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Operate a motor grader to grade, level, and shape earth, gravel, and aggregate materials
- Perform rough and finish grading to project specifications
- Read grade stakes, site plans, and survey markings
- Utilize GPS machine control systems when equipped
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Work closely with grade checkers, survey crews, and other operators
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Assist with other duties as assigned
- Travel may be required
- Overnight travel may be required
- Extended hours and weekend work may be required
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 2 years of motor grader operating experience preferred
- Heavy civil construction or road construction experience preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Knowledge of grading techniques and grade control
- Ability to read and interpret plans and grade stakes
- Strong commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
