Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair, and operation products, is searching for a Manager- Close and Reporting,  in our Finance Department for our Columbus, Ohio location.

This role is accountable for leading and managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate, complete and compliant financial statements. Responsible for coordinating cross-departmentally to gather necessary data, overseeing the preparation of internal and external financial reports, and adhering to GAAP and regulatory requirements. Analyzes financial results, implements process enhancements, and monitors new standards for impact on reporting.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading and managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements
  • Oversees the preparation and review of internal and external financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  •  Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations
  • Coordinates with Finance, Sales, Marketing, and other departments to gather necessary information to support the close and reporting process
  • Supervises and mentors a team of Accounting Analysts, providing guidance, strategies, coaching, and development opportunities on an ongoing basis
  •  Analyzes financial results and variances, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for improving financial performance
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial close and reporting system
  • Monitors and assesses the impact of new accounting standards and regulatory changes on financial reporting and ensures timely implementation
  • Manages relationships with external auditors, coordinating audit activities and ensuring the timely completion of audits
  • Supports the preparation of financial disclosures and filings with regulatory bodies as required
  • Leads special projects and reporting requests and ensures their accuracy
  • Continually develops reporting processes, systems, and controls
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller or Chief Financial Officer

 

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years supervisory experience in financial reporting or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or similar role
  • CPA certification
  • In depth knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulations
  • Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • The ability to read and write small letters and numbers; the ability to make arithmetic calculations; and the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • The successful completion of a ninety (90) day orientation period
  • The execution of an Employment Agreement
