Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Float Pool
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Float Pool to provide high-quality patient care across multiple inpatient units.
This is a dynamic float pool position designed for an RN who is comfortable working in different clinical environments and adapting quickly to changing patient-care needs. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of nursing experience, with ICU and/or Emergency Department experience strongly preferred. Candidates with other acute-care hospital experience will also be considered.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and the ability to quickly integrate into different units and care teams.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care across assigned hospital units.
Float between clinical departments based on staffing and patient-care needs.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies within the RN scope of practice.
Monitor patient conditions and promptly recognize changes in clinical status.
Communicate significant changes in patient condition to physicians and appropriate members of the healthcare team.
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, therapists, technicians, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
Prioritize care effectively while managing multiple patients with varying acuity levels.
Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards.
Demonstrate flexibility when assigned to unfamiliar units while working within established competencies.
Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Maintain professional standards and promote a positive patient-care environment.
Float Pool Responsibilities
As a float pool RN, you may be assigned to different inpatient units throughout the organization based on operational and staffing requirements.
Responsibilities include:
Quickly adapting to different unit workflows and patient populations.
Reviewing unit-specific procedures and expectations upon assignment.
Collaborating with the receiving unit's leadership and nursing team.
Working within established competencies and scope of practice.
Maintaining consistent standards of care regardless of assigned department.
Supporting staffing needs during periods of increased census, acuity, or employee absence.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with the following experience are strongly preferred:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Emergency Department (ED)
Other acute-care hospital nursing experience will also be considered.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state of practice.
Minimum 2 years of professional RN experience.
Acute-care/hospital nursing experience preferred.
Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to adapt to different patient populations and clinical environments.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
New graduate RNs will not be considered for this position.
Schedule & Requirements
3 × 12-hour shifts per week
7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Participation in the weekend program is required: 11 out of every 12 weekends
Work 2 major holidays per year
Schedule may vary according to staffing and operational needs.
Compensation Highlights
Base Salary: $42.78–$53.74 per hour
Night Differential: Additional $4.00/hour
Weekend Program Premium: Additional 40% of base pay for eligible weekend-program hours
Sign-On Bonus: $20,000 with a 2-year commitment
