Materials Management Technician

Full-time, Day Shift, (4) 10-hour days. The days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The hours are 4:30 AM - 3:00 PM.

Purpose:
Store Room: Communicates with internal customers and vendors, and provides good service. Performs daily inspection of areas and refills products as required. Under direct supervision, following specific procedures and detailed instructions, distributes supplies and equipment throughout the hospital. Maintains supply location levels, fills department orders, and participates in inventories. Accurately and timely receives, records, issues, and delivers orders to departments. Linen Room: Count verification of incoming linens, picks, and stages linens for the institution in various bins, containers, and carts. Participates in the control of the receiving and the distribution of products and associated data entry. Move both incoming and outgoing (clean and dirty) carts/bins to locations as needed. Keep the linen room organized and neat. Perform other various duties as assigned. Maintain products in compliance with hospital, DOH, and JCAHO standards.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Works with other Supply Techs as a team to ensure all supplies are located, stocked, and distributed accurately and promptly.
  • Perform cycle counts accurately.
  • Works in normal stock room conditions where there are few physical discomforts. Subject to irregular hours. Heavy physical effort.
  • Ability to perform courier functions.
  • Delivers processed goods to various departments, obtaining signatures where necessary.
  • Ability to resolve vendor and customer conflicts, resulting in satisfied customers.
  • Pull orders and have basic knowledge of products.
  • Checks stock for expired dates, pulls and replaces expired product in all inventory, Par closets, Exchange Carts, and General Stores.
  • Ability to properly complete various forms and records, interpret and convert measurement data, and compile information. Basic interpersonal skills are necessary to exchange information with departments, vendors, and delivery drivers.
  • Basic personal computer skills (e.g., basic Windows understanding and ability to use/learn local software such as e-mail, word processing, and the Material Management Information System), good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to retain learned skills.
  • Provide UPMC divisions, business units, and departments with daily pickup and delivery service of all inbound and outbound US mail and interoffice mail using our standardized procedures.
  • Compares information, notes receiving discrepancies, shortages, and damages, and records the same. Notifies Supervisor or Material Director of reported discrepancies.
