Mechanic Maintenance

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities

Conducts routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on structures and equipment for all departments in plant. 

Principal Responsibilities

Provides support for all equipment and structures in plant. Frequently uses various kinds of hand and power tools. Disassembles equipment, repairs and/or replaces components, and reassembles all types of equipment. Repairs piping and vessels as needed. Uses welding equipment to fix components and equipment. Follows instructions in service manuals for troubleshooting and repairing certain types of equipment. Performs specialized mechanical functions such as repairing, cleaning and servicing certain types of equipment. Fabricates components for use in various areas of plant by means of welding, cutting, heating, drilling, grinding and machining. Performs other duties as needed.

Education Requirements [Minimum level of formal education that is required to perform this job satisfactorily]

High School Diploma or GED.

Training, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Three years of increasingly responsible mechanical maintenance work, including installation and repair of equipment.

Non-Essential Functions

Must adhere to safe work practices and procedures. Must have knowledge of all plant and shop equipment including lathe, milling machine, drill press, welding equipment, die grinders, side grinders, circular saws, jig saws, hand saws, hack saws, impact wrench, and other hand and power tools.

Equipment

Hardhat, leather gloves, welding gloves, neoprene gloves, chemical resistant gloves, safety glasses, ammonia respirator, self contained breathing apparatus, hazmat suit, welding hood, dust mask, face shield, non-slip safety shoes, welding equipment (ARC, MIG and TIG), torch cutter, bolt cutters, milling equipment, vice grips, clamps, work benches, circular saw, bandpass saw, jigsaw, hack saw, side grinder, die grinder, impact wrench, benders, air tools, drill press, hand drill, crane, hoist, hand truck, and other equipment as needed.

Working Conditions

Inside and outside in all areas of plant environment. Work performed in some plant areas are subject to extreme temperatures. Work conducted in all types of weather conditions.
