Car Wash Specialist (Full Time)

Summary:

The Car Wash Specialist is responsible for providing Guest service through daily interactions while assisting Guests at the pay station, guiding Guests into the car wash tunnel and providing finishing services at the end of the wash cycle. The Car Wash Specialist will operate car wash equipment, apply cleaning chemicals and ensure that vehicles are returned to Guests in excellent condition, all while striving to provide an exceptional car wash experience, one worth repeating.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Safely operate and maintain car wash equipment.

·        Inspect vehicles for damage prior to entering the car wash tunnel.

·        Greet Guests at the pay station upon arrival.

·        Offer additional services to compliment the selected wash package.

·        Apply chemical or insect removal to front of vehicle and windshield, taking care to ensure Guest maintains visibility through the windshield and can follow hand signals.

·        Guide Guests onto tunnel conveyor belts in a safe manner, while using clear & designated hand signals.

·        Prep vehicle with brush and soap; select the purchased wash package in the operating system and ensure mirrors are folded in.

·        Dry the windshield, sideview mirrors, side windows and back window of vehicles; ensure side mirrors are out upon exit from the car wash tunnel.

·        Operate washer & dryer units to clean towels, fold and place in proper storage place.

·        Maintain a clean appearance of the car wash site emptying trash bins throughout the property; picking up debris found on the property including on the grass, cemented areas, vacuum area and inside the tunnel.

·        Clean and maintain vacuum cleaner canisters and hoses to ensure they are free from debris and are in good working order.

·     Attend mandatory car wash pit cleanings and other scheduled meetings.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent Guest service skills with the ability to communicate with Guests professionally and courteously, addressing their needs and offering additional services.
• Possess attention to details; ensuring the Guest’s vehicle is clean after it is washed.
• Available to work weekends and holidays according to the needs of the business; schedule and duties may vary based on weather conditions.
• Skill in handling various cleaning tools such as brushes, hose, pressure washers while ensuring the safety of the vehicle’s surface.
• Have knowledge of cleaning products to understand which cleaning agents are safe and effective for vehicles.
• Completes tasks quickly without sacrificing quality, especially when managing multiple vehicles.

Strong problem-solving skills, particularly when troubleshooting equipment repairs.

• Understands the importance of and follows all safely protocols when using equipment like pressure washers, chemicals, etc.
• Familiarity with different vehicle types, including sedans and SUV’s, trucks and truck beds, luxury vehicles.

Physical Requirements:

·        Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk/hear, push/pull, climb, bend/stoop, crouch/kneel/crawl, taste/smell, balance, twist/reach, carry, grasp with hands, squat, drive and use keyboard. 

·        Lifting Requirements: Lift up to 50lbs daily and 50-100lbs on occasion.

·        Hearing Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, communication equipment, verbal instructions and machinery.

·        Cognitive Requirements: Basic reading, writing and math skills. Basic speech skills; must be able to speak, read, write & understand the English language, clerical tasks, memorization, analytical skills, function under stress & make independent decisions. 

·        Vision Requirements: General vision requirements in addition to close vision (<20 inches), Distance Vision (>20 feet), color vision and peripheral vision.

·        Noise Levels: Normal (<85dB) noise levels and Loud (>85dB) noise levels on occasion. 

·        Repetitive Motion(s): Regularly & repetitively use both feet and both hands.

·        Environmental Factors: General working conditions include wet/humid/steam conditions not created by weather, slippery floors, working with mechanical parts and machinery including machinery that contains moving parts, toxic/caustic chemicals, concentrated soaps & cleaning solutions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, confined areas, pressurized equipment, Cylinders, electrical equipment, vibration, possible flying debris, flashing/strobing lighting and work around vehicles in motion.
