Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer I is responsible for 

supporting product quality and manufacturing performance through data analysis, problem-solving, and execution of quality system processes. This role contributes to improving product reliability, reducing defects, and ensuring compliance with quality standards through hands-on execution and collaboration with cross-functional teams.  

This position is part of the Quality Engineering team located in Ames, Iowa, and will be on-site.  

 
 

In this role, a typical day will look like: 

  • Perform data analysis and problem-solving activities to support customer complaints and internal nonconformances 

  • Support design of experiments (DOE) and validation activities for product and process improvements 

  • Maintain change orders for products and procedures 

  • Support validation of materials, processes, and equipment 

  • Contribute to Quality Management System (QMS) processes, including CAPA, SCAR, document control, and internal audits 

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support continuous improvement 

 
 

The essential requirements of the job include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related technical field 

  • Experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing environments (preferred)

  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or FDA 21 CFR 820) 

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation 

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis or problem-solving tools

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $53,000 - $70,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
