Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Clarinet Instructor position. The Clarinet Instructor is a part-time, casual position with no benefits. The expected salary range for this job opportunity is: $64 to $66.67 per hour. 

The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations.

The Music Department at Amherst College is seeking a clarinet instructor to teach individual lessons on an hourly basis. The number of students cannot be guaranteed.  Lessons are to be given in person and on campus. Candidates should be prepared to support students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and at a variety of levels from beginning to advanced.

The Music Department is committed to placing music at the center of the liberal arts experience as an integration of musical practice with scholarship. Our curriculum is built around five core ways of knowing music: through performance, creation, analysis, ethnography, and history. We provide pathways for students of any level of experience to begin a musical practice for the first time or to pursue high-level work.

Required

  • Applicants should have a robust record of professional experience (Master's degree or equivalent); demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so
