The Paraprofessional Instruction at Oak Hill’s Hebron Classroom works 35 hours/week, Monday through Friday 8a-3p.Ā This individual assists in the implementation of students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP), providing academic and vocational instruction and support for individual students inside and outside of the classroom.Ā This individual focuses on creative teaching strategies and instructional techniques that will empower students to progress, impact quality of their life, and self-direction.Ā Ā Ā

Minimum Requirements:Ā 

  • Associates degree in education, child development or related field or enrolled in a higher education program that leads to a degree in education, child development or related field and at least 5 years of experience and completed required OHS curriculum within 3 months of hire.Ā 
  • Valid driver’s licenseĀ 
  • A Public Service license with a V endorsement is required during the initial employment period, and this is facilitated through Oak Hill. ā€œVā€ endorsement is required for operation of a student transportation vehicle, transporting students to and from school, including vehicles transporting special education students. Applicants or holders of a public passenger endorsement must have an acceptable driving record.Ā

ResponsibilitiesĀ 

  • AssistsĀ the teacher in the implementation of academic and/or vocational instruction to students individually or in small groups to implement Student Educational Plans.Ā 
  • Creates andĀ maintainsĀ a supportive learning environment and modelsĀ appropriate behaviorsĀ toĀ assistĀ students in developingĀ appropriate socialĀ skills.Ā 
  • SafelyĀ assistsĀ students into and out of school transportation, transporting students to and from school as needed.Ā 
  • Assists the teacher in planning ofĀ instructional content and activities that are aligned with standards, build on students’ prior knowledge and that provide for appropriate level of challenge for all students.Ā 
  • AssistsĀ the teacher with ongoing observation and assessment, records instructional and behavioral data, andĀ assistsĀ in developingĀ appropriate techniquesĀ to reinforce learning.Ā 
  • Modifies materials and implements instructional and behavior management strategies for students under the direct supervision of the Special Education teacher.Ā
