About the Role

Steering Components (a division of Fleet Services, Inc.) is seeking a motivated, hands-on individual to join our shop team as a Hydraulic Mechanic / Rebuilder.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined and eager to learn a specialized trade. No prior rebuilding experience is required—we will fully train the right person. You will work directly with heavy-duty truck components, including steering gearboxes, steering pumps, and fan clutches.


Key Responsibilities

  • Tear Down & Inspection: Disassemble, clean, and thoroughly inspect hydraulic steering gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, and fan clutches.
  • Rebuilding: Replace seals, gaskets, and worn internal components.
  • Assembly & Precision Work: Reassemble components to manufacturer specifications using proper torque procedures.
  • Testing & Finishing: Quality-test completed units to ensure proper function and prepare/paint them for inventory or delivery.
  • Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and mechanical components.
  • No Tools Required: We supply 100% of the tools, precision equipment, and safety gear required for the job.
  • Trainable & Motivated: Strong desire to learn a skilled technical trade with a positive attitude.
  • Team Player: Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively alongside team members.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, pull, and handle heavy truck components throughout the workday.
