Overview

Schedules, coordinates and monitors the day to day operational functions of all Laboratory sections except Microbiology.Implements quality standards and provides oversight of section processes to achieve excellent outcome and qualitypatient care. Performs Laboratory testing on patient and control samples, and/or prepares blood components fortransfusion. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge includesthe use of specialized analytical instrumentation, clinical correlation of test results, quality control requirements, andpreventative maintenance. Maintains department readiness for regulatory inspections and compliance requirements.Maintains department policy and procedure manuals in accordance with hospital policy. Is responsible for departmentquality control records, instrument maintenance, regulatory agency compliance, and supply process. Participates in thecontinuous quality improvement process through professional development, continuing education, data collection andevaluation, and quality assurance. Develops and maintains orientation, training and competency tools and ensures compliance. Assists the Director in evaluating and documenting employee performance. Assists Director in the recruitment, hiring, termination and retention of employees. Coordinates staff development activities of section including education, competency completion, validation, and orientation. Participates in data collection and analysis as requestedby management. Maximizes efficiency in section operations. Exhibits willingness to resolve problems as they arise.This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center and AHMC Inc. It is expected that the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with the core values of AHMC-ARMC and AHMC Inc. The employee shall support AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center's strategic planand goals and direction of the performance improvement plan. The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to; Customer Service, Patient's Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care and AHMC Inc initiatives.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE1. Earned a doctoral or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, ormedical technology from an accredited institution.2. Six years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in an acute care laboratory with 4 years supervisoryexperience preferred.
