Plant Manager – Pen Manufacturing

Build a Factory That Wins Every Day

Pen Manufacturing is rebuilding one of Southern California's premier metal fabrication companies.

We're not looking for someone to maintain the status quo.

We're looking for the leader who walks the floor before sunrise, knows where every bottleneck is, and refuses to let yesterday's problems become tomorrow's excuses.

You'll partner directly with our President to build a disciplined manufacturing organization capable of supporting a $100M+ multi-site platform.

If you're happiest in conference rooms, this isn't your role.

If you're happiest on the production floor coaching supervisors, solving problems, improving throughput, and making today's numbers before worrying about tomorrow's, keep reading.

What You'll Own

You will own the daily operation of our Anaheim manufacturing facility.

That includes:

  • Safety
  • Production
  • Quality
  • Scheduling
  • Labor utilization
  • Inventory accuracy
  • On-time delivery
  • Gross margin execution
  • Continuous improvement
  • Supervisor accountability

You are expected to know what's happening on every major job every day.

Success Looks Like

Within your first year you will:

  • Improve on-time delivery.
  • Increase labor productivity.
  • Improve gross margins through better execution.
  • Build a culture of accountability throughout the shop.
  • Improve ERP accuracy and production visibility.
  • Develop supervisors who own results instead of reporting excuses.
  • Reduce overtime while improving throughput.
  • Eliminate waste, bottlenecks, and unnecessary labor.
  • Create a manufacturing operation customers trust.

The Person We're Looking For

You are:

  • A builder, not a caretaker.
  • Comfortable making difficult personnel decisions.
  • Data-driven.
  • Highly organized.
  • Relentless about daily execution.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Extremely visible on the shop floor.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (strongly preferred).
  • Passionate about developing people while holding them accountable.

You don't believe:

"We'll get to it next week."

You believe:

"Let's fix it today."

Experience

Strong preference for experience in:

  • Metal fabrication
  • Sheet metal
  • Machining
  • Welding
  • Aerospace
  • Defense
  • High-mix / low-volume manufacturing
  • Job shop environments

Experience with:

  • ERP/MRP systems
  • Production scheduling
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Daily management systems
  • KPI scoreboards
  • Labor planning
  • Margin improvement
  • Inventory control
  • AS9100 and/or ISO quality systems

What You Won't Do

You won't spend your days sitting behind a desk reviewing reports.

You'll spend your days:

  • Walking the floor.
  • Coaching supervisors.
  • Removing bottlenecks.
  • Talking with employees.
  • Improving labor utilization.
  • Solving customer delivery problems.
  • Making today's production plan happen.
