Age requirement: 21+ In this dynamic hotel role, you'll primarily serve as a bartender while also assisting with cooking duties as needed to ensure a seamless guest experience. This is a hotel bar; some days may be busier than others. Position Summary: Bartenders and Cooks play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. As a bartender, your responsibilities include mixing and serving drinks, interacting with customers, taking orders, recommending beverages, and ensuring prompt, courteous service. You will maintain a clean and organized bar, restock supplies, clean glasses, and follow health and safety regulations. To excel, you must adhere to Hyatt House standards, possess knowledge of alcohol, cocktail recipes, and current drink trends. A successful bartender is skilled in drink-making, has excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and can multitask in a fast-paced environment. As a cook, your duties extend to preparing and cooking a variety of menu items, ensuring the quality and presentation meet Hyatt House standards. You will maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, manage inventory, and restock ingredients as needed. Following health and safety regulations, you will prepare food to order, coordinate with kitchen staff, and adapt to customer preferences. A successful cook demonstrates culinary skills, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Together, the bartender/cook role requires versatility and dedication to providing an exceptional dining and drinking experience for all guests. Ability to meet the needs of others in a dynamic and fast-paced setting, whether serving drinks or preparing meals. Possess a friendly demeanor and the ability to address guest requests and concerns promptly and courteously, ensuring a positive dining experience. Proficiency in using kitchen and bar equipment, as well as cleaning supplies, to maintain a hygienic and organized workspace. Understanding of restaurant safety and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for guests and staff. Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, common in both cooking and bartending. Knowledge of safety protocols to handle kitchen tools and chemicals safely. Ability to keep track of kitchen and bar supplies, restock as necessary, and maintain an organized work area. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple and routine instructions. Must be able to understand and follow directions, guidelines, and work objectives as set forth by the Breakfast Supervisor and Assistant General Manager. Effective listening, understanding, and problem-solving skills are necessary to address concerns from guests and coworkers. Bartenders/cooks need to anticipate needs, manage multiple tasks, and make quick decisions to ensure a positive guest experience. Strong reasoning skills help bartenders adapt to changing situations and provide exceptional service in a dynamic environment. Physical Demands: A hotel bartender/cook’s role involves various physical demands that require agility, stamina, and multitasking skills. Bartenders/cooks are often on their feet for long periods, moving around the bar area to prepare food and serve drinks to guests. They may need to lift and carry heavy bottles, kegs, and crates of beverages/food, requiring strength and proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries. Additionally, bartenders must have good hand-eye coordination to mix and pour drinks accurately, often in a fast-paced environment during peak hours.
