IT Event Support TechnicianPay Details:
The starting hourly rate for this position is $30.00 per hour.OC Sports & Entertainment (OCSE) is seeking part-time IT Event Support Technicians to assist with IT support during live events across our venues, including Honda Center, The Grove of Anaheim, and future venues such as the Concert Hall and the OCVIBE entertainment district. Under the guidance of full-time staff, this role will provide reliable IT event support for live shows, sports events, concerts, and mixed-use activations. The IT Event Support Technician will assist with executing standard IT event checklists, verifying service readiness (phones, POS, scanners, network connectivity, etc.), and providing general hands-on IT assistance during events. Candidates must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
Assist with setting up, testing, and troubleshooting event-related IT systems, including phones, scanners, printers, POS devices, and network drops
Assist with supporting network connectivity during events, helping maintain uptime for services such as Wi-Fi, security entrance systems, retail/F&B, and ticketing
Follow a detailed IT Event Checklist related to equipment setup and assist with meeting all setup timelines and deadlines; verify setups are accurate according to request and as directed by full-time staff
Assist with ethernet cable preparation (custom-length RJ-45 cables) and support full-time staff with network connectivity and setup
Assist with extending and patching ethernet cables and securing cabling per safety standards
Assist in identifying and preparing network ports for activation by full-time network staff
Document changes to wall jacks and network switch ports and report updates to full-time staff
Assist with setup and positioning of phones as directed by the Manager or service lead
Assist with recovery of IT equipment post-event and ensure accurate documentation
Monitor the venue during events, promptly notify full-time staff, and assist with addressing or escalating event-related IT issues
Coordinate with full-time IT Operations staff for escalations, network configuration, or incident handling
Document setup records, equipment placement, and issues encountered
Communicate professionally with event staff, vendors, and internal departments (e.g., Event Ops, Retail, F&B)
Assist the Senior Manager with onsite event activities and other IT-related projects as needed
Operate under the direction of full-time IT staff and support event execution without responsibility for systems ownership or ongoing systems management
Qualifications
Minimum 1–2 years of related work experience in IT support or helpdesk, preferably in live events, stadiums, arenas, or venue environments
High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications (CompTIA A+/Network+, ITIL Foundation) a plus
Understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and basic network troubleshooting
Comfortable using tools such as crimpers, testers, and gaffer tape for cable runs
Experience with Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and basic device connectivity (wired and Wi-Fi)
Familiarity with AV/network gear (switches, patch panels, IPTV, digital signage) a plus
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Able to lift up to 50 pounds, remain on feet for extended periods, and navigate indoor/outdoor event environments
Able to collaborate cross-functionally and represent IT interests in cross-departmental projects and planning meetings
Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support mission-critical events
Able to read floor plans and follow event setup documentation
Able to travel between multiple OCSE venues
Position requires hands-on physical work, attention to detail, and flexibility in fast-paced live event environments
