Position Summary:
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating Amada-style press brake machinery to fabricate sheet metal parts according to specifications. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, knowledge of bend calculations, and a commitment to quality and safety in a manufacturing environment.
Main Job Duties:
- Operate Amada-style press brake machines according to work orders and fabrication drawings
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
- Understand dimensional tolerances, bend deductions, and bend allowances
- Produce parts efficiently while meeting required tolerances and cosmetic standards
- Perform in-process inspections and complete related documentation
- Confirm operations in ERP system and complete production records
- Perform preventive maintenance on assigned press brake equipment
- Report any equipment or part defects to supervisor
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety policies and supervisor instructions
- Collaborate with team members to support production goals
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of sheet metal press brake experience required
- At least 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with Amada or Amada ASTRO robotic brake systems preferred
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Knowledge of press brake setup and operation
- Familiarity with shop equipment (saws, drill presses, etc.)
- Ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Ability to stand/walk for full shift and perform physical tasks
- Ability to kneel, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment
