Technology Service Technician
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technology Service Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for the service, troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and technical support of low-voltage and electronic security systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing and resolving issues related to access control systems, CCTV systems, gate and barrier systems, networking equipment, audio/video systems, and related electronic infrastructure. This is a field-based position that requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and a professional customer-focused approach.
A company service vehicle will be provided for daily travel to customer locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
System Service, Repair & Maintenance
- Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair:
- Access Control Systems
- CCTV / IP Video Surveillance Systems
- Barrier Arm Systems
- Telephone Entry and Intercom Systems
- Audio/Video Systems
- Network Infrastructure Equipment
- Structured Cabling Systems
- Diagnose and repair low-voltage wiring and electrical system issues.
- Troubleshoot IP-based network systems, including switches, routers, and connected devices.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including inspections, cleaning, calibration, testing, and system verification.
- Ensure systems are fully operational upon completion of service to minimize repeat service calls.
- Assist with system startup, commissioning, and testing of newly installed systems when required.
- Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and system condition assessments.
- Provide recommendations for repairs, upgrades, replacements, and corrective actions.
- Prepare verbal or written quotations for replacement parts and repair work as required.
Customer Service & Communication
- Maintain professional communication with customers and project stakeholders.
- Clearly explain system issues, repair recommendations, and service findings.
- Represent the company professionally at all customer locations.
Equipment & Safety
- Maintain assigned company vehicle, tools, equipment, and service records.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining low-voltage, security, automation, or related electronic systems.
- Experience working with:
- Access Control Systems
- CCTV / IP Camera Systems
- Telephone Entry Systems
- Barrier Arm Systems
- Network Equipment and IP-Based Systems
- Audio/Video Systems
- Knowledge of low-voltage electrical theory, including:
- AC/DC fundamentals
- Relays and control circuits
- Power supplies
- Open and closed-loop systems
- Working knowledge of networking concepts, including:
- IP addressing
- Subnetting
- Router and switch configuration
- LAN/WAN troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience using digital multimeters and electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service assignments.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical trade school education or electronics-related training.
- Industry certifications such as:
- CompTIA A+
- Network+
- Security+
- Equivalent technical certifications
- Experience with:
- Parking Guidance Systems
- License Plate Recognition (LPR) Systems
- Visitor Management Systems
- Fiber Optic Cabling
- Wireless Networking Systems
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
On-Call Requirements
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours and weekend emergency service.
- Respond to emergency service requests as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders up to 24 feet while carrying tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and electronic diagnostic devices.
- Ability to distinguish wire colors and perform detailed wiring tasks.
Work Environment
Work is performed at a variety of customer locations, including:

- Multifamily Residential Properties
- Commercial Facilities
- Industrial Sites
- Active Construction Projects
- Gate Access and Security Installations
- Equipment Rooms, IDF Closets, and Outdoor Locations
The position may involve exposure to electrical systems, mechanical equipment, construction environments, vehicles, and changing weather conditions.
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Monday through Friday
- Typical Start Time: 7:30 AM
- Overtime and after-hours work as required
