Carolina Psychiatry, DBA Taral Sharma MD PC, provides compassionate, evidence-based outpatient mental health care for adults and adolescents throughout South Carolina. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other behavioral health professionals working together to provide individualized care.

Our services include psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, Spravato®, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). We serve patients experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and a variety of other behavioral health conditions.

Position Summary

Carolina Psychiatry is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Outpatient Therapist to join our Anderson practice. The therapist will provide individual, family, and other clinically appropriate psychotherapy services to adults, adolescents, or both, depending on the therapist’s experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time, Monday-through-Friday position with an expected patient volume of approximately 35 visits per week. The therapist will work closely with psychiatric providers and other members of the clinical team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered behavioral healthcare.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including behavioral, social, and family histories.
  2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s diagnosis, needs, strengths, and goals.
  3. Provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, or both.
  4. Provide family or couples therapy when clinically indicated and within the therapist’s training and scope of practice.
  5. Maintain an expected patient volume of approximately 35 completed visits per week.
  6. Evaluate patients for depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, behavioral concerns, safety risks, and other mental health needs.
  7. Monitor patient progress and update treatment goals and interventions as clinically appropriate.
  8. Conduct suicide-risk assessments, develop safety plans, and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  9. Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other members of the clinical team.
  10. Coordinate with families, primary care providers, schools, and community resources when appropriate and properly authorized.
  11. Educate patients and families about diagnoses, coping strategies, treatment recommendations, and available support resources.
  12. Complete accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
  13. Follow all applicable professional, ethical, legal, clinical, and organizational standards.
  14. Protect patient confidentiality and maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries.
  15. Participate in clinical meetings, case consultations, and quality-improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or another related behavioral health discipline.
  • Current South Carolina clinical license or eligibility to obtain the appropriate license before beginning employment.
  • Appropriate credentials may include LPC, LISW-CP, LMFT, or an equivalent independently licensed behavioral health designation.
  • Knowledge of clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based psychotherapy.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent caseload and meet the expectation of approximately 35 patient visits per week.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, time-management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary outpatient environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous outpatient mental health experience.
  • Experience providing therapy to adults, adolescents, or both.
  • Experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, and related behavioral health conditions.
  • Training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, or other evidence-based approaches.
  • Experience coordinating care with psychiatric prescribers and other healthcare professionals.
