The General ManagerĀ is responsible forĀ the daily operations of an individual property, and is also accountable for the financial performance, physicalĀ conditionĀ and work atmosphere of the property. General Managers are charged with the primary duty of managing andĀ operatingĀ their propertyĀ toĀ provide aĀ safe, clean environment for both guests and employees. The General ManagerĀ is responsible forĀ ensuring that the property adheres to corporate financial and operational procedures and ensuresĀ a high levelĀ of quality and guest satisfaction. Salesmanship and knowledge of the local competitive landscape are critical to success.Ā

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Ā
Recruit,Ā interviewĀ and hire all property staffĀ
Training,Ā developmentĀ and support of property staffĀ
Responsible for office operations, including checking-in and checking out guests, control of all money, and bookkeeping and payroll functionsĀ
Ensure and provide excellent guest serviceĀ
DevelopĀ expertiseĀ on computer operating systemĀ
IdentifyĀ and manage repair and maintenance issuesĀ
IdentifyĀ capital expenditure needsĀ
AssistĀ with completion of capital expenditure projectsĀ
IdentifyĀ and follow up on life/safety issues and inspection issuesĀ
Notify Supervisor of any guest concernsĀ
Maximize financial performance through revenue management and pricing recommendationsĀ
Meet budgets through P&L analysis and effective cost and inventory controlĀ
AssistsĀ in preparation of annual budgetsĀ
Monitor competitors for their marketĀ
Drive sales through local marketingĀ
Develop andĀ maintainĀ positive relationships will all local governmental authoritiesĀ
AssistĀ in recruitment and training of other General ManagersĀ

Essential Qualifications:Ā
Possess a valid driverās license, current autoĀ insuranceĀ and a functioning automobile.Ā
Read, speak,Ā writeĀ and understand the English language to interact with guests, staff, handle administrative duties, etc.Ā
Ability to read, understandĀ andĀ interpretĀ information found in a variety of reports and other internal hotel information.Ā Ā
Sufficient mathematical skills to prepare forecasts and reports, calculate room revenue, average rate, occupancy percentage and labor costs, count and balance a cash bank, etc.Ā
General computerĀ proficiency.Ā
Possess thorough knowledge of Front Office and related department operations, service standards and techniques, guest relations and etiquette, up selling techniques, to ensure the effective operation of the front office and related departments (examples include providing high level of service, effective staff training, proficient problem solving, effective cost controls, etc.).Ā
Possess the knowledge and ability to perform a variety of front office and related positions in response to business conditions.Ā
Ability to compose and express thoughts in a clear and understandable way to ensure effective communication.Ā
Ability and flexibility to work long hours on a regular basis and as business conditions demand.Ā
Ability to manage multipleĀ activities oftenĀ in stressful situations.Ā
Ability to organize oneself, oneās work and the efforts of others.Ā
Ability to make effectiveĀ judgmentsĀ on allĀ facetsĀ of front office operations and staff, and the ability to effectively solve guest and operational problems.Ā

Preferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education:Ā
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge,Ā skillsĀ and abilities. High school diploma preferred but notĀ required.Ā
MinimumĀ 3 yearsā experience in management. Supervisory experienceĀ required. Experience levelsĀ requiredĀ might vary based upon the size,Ā volumeĀ and character of companyĀ

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:Ā
Indoor work with hard and carpeted surfacesĀ
Standing for up to eight (8) hour shiftsĀ
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the timeĀ
This position is occasionallyĀ requiredĀ to sit,Ā climb,Ā balance,Ā stoop, kneel,Ā crouchĀ or crawl.Ā Ā
The employee mustĀ frequentlyĀ lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Ā Ā

May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, cold, heat, rain if at an exterior propertyĀ
Use ofĀ computerĀ terminal, which requires extensive eye contact with a video display terminal.Ā
The person in this positionĀ frequentlyĀ communicates with employees/vendors.Ā MustĀ be able to exchangeĀ accurateĀ information in these situations.Ā
