Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), purchase orders, and other procurement documents to support defense and aerospace manufacturing programs while ensuring compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and government acquisition regulations
- Procure production materials, electronic components, fabricated parts, hardware, services, and capital equipment by evaluating supplier capabilities, obtaining competitive quotations, performing cost analyses, and recommending best-value sourcing solutions that support production schedules and program objectives
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contractual agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings, improve supplier performance, and ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) procurement requirements, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) guidelines
- Utilize Oracle ERP and procurement management systems to process purchase requisitions, generate purchase orders, monitor order status, maintain supplier records, track inventory requirements, and ensure accurate procurement documentation throughout the purchasing lifecycle
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, production planning, quality assurance, program management, contracts, and supply chain teams to support new product introductions, resolve material shortages, expedite critical deliveries, and maintain uninterrupted production schedules
- Review technical drawings, bills of material (BOMs), engineering change notices (ECNs), and material specifications to ensure purchased materials meet engineering requirements, quality standards, and customer contract specifications
- Monitor supplier performance by tracking delivery schedules, quality metrics, corrective actions, and lead times while proactively addressing supply chain risks and implementing solutions that improve delivery performance and operational efficiency
- Maintain complete procurement files, supplier communications, contract documentation, pricing records, and audit-ready purchasing data while supporting internal audits, customer reviews, and government compliance requirements
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, supporting strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier development, continuous improvement efforts, and long-term supply chain reliability
- Ensure all purchasing activities are conducted ethically and in full compliance with company policies, export control regulations, FAR, DFARS, DCMA requirements, and applicable federal procurement standards supporting mission-critical defense and aerospace programs
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Operations Management, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), or similar procurement credentials are valued
- Demonstrate working knowledge of federal acquisition regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) requirements, with the ability to apply these standards to purchasing activities supporting Department of Defense (DoD) contracts
- Apply procurement and purchasing experience within manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries, supporting sourcing, supplier management, contract administration, purchase order processing, and material planning while maintaining compliance with customer and government requirements
- Utilize strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, contracts, finance, and other cross-functional teams to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives
- Analyze supplier quotations, pricing structures, lead times, market conditions, and procurement data to support informed sourcing decisions, resolve supply chain challenges, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple procurement activities simultaneously while meeting production schedules, customer commitments, and purchasing deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Maintain proficiency with procurement and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including Oracle ERP or comparable purchasing software, as well as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications for reporting, data analysis, supplier management, and procurement documentation
- Exhibit sound business judgment, integrity, and professionalism while handling confidential information, supporting government contracts, maintaining accurate procurement records, and ensuring compliance with corporate ethics, export control regulations, and purchasing policies
- Possess U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance when required to support classified defense and aerospace programs
