Responsibilities

 

 

  • Dictates design choices to software developers, including but not limited to: platforms, coding and technical levels
  • Gains a complete understanding of needs and effectively communicates them to the software design team
  • Works independently designing and developing new software products or major enhancements to existing software
  • May lead a large development team in design of highly complex software systems
  • Acts as highest-level technical expert, addressing problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms
  • Responsible for project completion
  • Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Skillset/work experience equivalence to Cisco CCNP Collaboration with a focus on Design and Planning, and a minimum of 7 years of experience working within the IT field – with a focus in UC delivery mechanisms. This position is the expert in the designing and implementation of new Enterprise Unified Communications core infrastructure technologies and equipment. This position will be required to recommend technology changes and evolutions to enterprise unified communications systems. Will be required to interface with customers and create solutions, communicate proactively and effectively with customers, and provide solutions. The position is also required to provide training, webinars, whitepapers as necessary to customers and on demand - to track changes in the environment, be knowledgeable about expected CIS business changes, be aware of technology trends, future changes being performed by vendors supporting CIS systems, and projected modernizations and upgrades within CIS and DHS.• This position is the expert in designing and implementing new Enterprise Unified Communications core infrastructure technologies and equipment. This position will be required to recommend technology changes and evolutions to enterprise unified communications systems.• This position is required to interface with customers and create solutions - communicate proactively and effectively with customers, and provide training, webinars, whitepapers as necessary to customers and on demand.• This position is required to track changes in the UC environment, be knowledgeable about expected CIS business changes, be aware of technology trends, future changes being performed by vendors supporting CIS systems, and projected modernizations and upgrades within CIS and DHS.• This position will be a key participant in the implementation of all new UC systems and technologies, ensuring these implementations are completed, documented, tested and integrated into UC enterprise services.• Required to have significant working experience in routing protocols, addressing, services virtualization, and integration/collaboration strategies for enterprise architectures are critical to the position.• Required to possess expert knowledge in Unified Communications and how it works in a collaborative environment over switching, routing, firewall, balancers, cloud, MPLS, QoS and Wide Area Network (MPLS) technologies are required to support this position, along with the ability to document this using Visio and office documentation processes.• This position requires being aware of upcoming trends in UC technologies and methods of delivering a future-focused collaborative environment. All training required to support this expertise in existing and potential future developing technologies will be required to be provided by the contractor.• The ability to represent the team in briefings and in presentations are key.• This position will provide real-time assistance to UC staff and troubleshooting efforts in an on-demand function.Skillsets utilized to accomplish this function: This position will be a key participant in the implementation of all new UC systems and technologies, ensuring these implementations are completed, documented, tested and integrated into UC enterprise services. The ability to lead the efforts required to solve for, design, and implement new UC solutions and technologies into the enterprise and ensure collaborative environment functions is a key skillset for this position. Current unified communications technologies which are supported by these implementations are significantly based on Polycom, Cisco, Avaya, and vBrick solutions. Experience in routing protocols, addressing, services virtualization, and integration/collaboration strategies for enterprise architectures are critical to the position. Expert knowledge in Unified Communications and how it works in a collaborative environment over switching, routing, firewall, balancers, cloud, MPLS, QoS and Wide Area Network (MPLS) technologies are required to support this position, along with the ability to document this using Visio and office documentation processes.Skillset expectations: This position currently has a wide variety of skills and knowledge of enterprise delivery and technologies and requires that the position maintains their skillset as it relates to what are coming trends in UC technologies and methods of delivering a future-focused collaborative environment. Skillset equivalence to Cisco CCNP Collaboration with a focus on Design and Planning, and a general minimum of 7 years of experience working within the IT field – with a focus in UC delivery mechanisms. The ability to represent the team in briefings and in presentations are key. This position will provide real-time assistance to UC Multimedia Operations staff and troubleshooting efforts in an on-demand function.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 – 15 years of related experience
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in software engineering/development and/or systems engineering/analysis with a focus in UC delivery mechanisms.
  • Must possess experience in all phases of software engineering to include requirements analysis, development, testing and integration, maintenance and problem diagnosis/resolution and/or experience in phases of applications systems analysis to include evaluation and design, integration and optimization of complex systems.
  • Must have experience with communication applications, database management, use of programming languages and knowledge of storage and retrieval methods.
  • Must have experience in networks, storage, Linux, virtual environments and general hardware knowledge.

  

Preferred:

  • Expertise with Cisco CCNP Collaboration with a focus on Design and Planning and UC delivery
  • Expertise with developing UC Core infrastructure design
  • Expertise in UC multimedia operations
  • Candidate shall be competent to work at the highest level of all phases of software engineering and/or all phases of applications systems analysis with minimal direction or oversight.
