LEAD MEDICAL ASSISTANT (LEAD MA) — MAEVILLE PEDIATRICS

Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, dependable Lead Medical Assistant to support our busy pediatric practice. This is a leadership role for a high-performing MA who can set standards, train staff, manage daily clinical flow, and keep the back office running efficiently and safely while also handling operations that pertain to the medical side of the clinic

The Lead MA will work closely with doctors and NP team and the medical director to ensure consistent clinical workflows, accurate documentation and excellent patient experience.

This position requires professionalism, maturity, strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to coach others in real time.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support (help support the MA team on the floor by ensuring they are trained and supported to do their tasks)

  • Room patients and obtain accurate pediatric vital signs
  • Update medications, allergies, pharmacy, and immunization status
  • Assist providers with procedures and clinical workflow
  • Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection
  • Support vaccine preparation, administration, and documentation per protocol
  • Manages fax and nurse triage departments
  • Oversees referrals (train team )
Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide daily direction to Medical Assistants and externs and organize their schedules.
  • Assign rooming coverage, vaccine support, lab support, and float coverage
  • Conduct daily huddles and communicate priorities clearly
  • Train new MAs and maintain competency sign-offs
  • Provide coaching and corrective feedback when standards are not met
  • Progressive discipline for clinical staff
  • Monitor patient experience
  • Work closely with front desk as a liaison to the back office
Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain exam room readiness, stocking, and supply par levels
  • Monitor vaccine storage compliance and temperature logs
  • Ensure infection control and OSHA standards are followed
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and solve problems in real time
  • Escalate safety concerns immediately to management/provider leadership
  • VFC program oversight and ensure monthly counts done and data loggers compliant
  • Inventory management and manage relationship with vendors
Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA)
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant (pediatrics preferred)
  • Strong pediatric vital sign and vaccine workflow experience
  • Strong EHR skills and attention to detail
  • CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Lead MA, trainer, or supervisor experience
  • Pediatric practice experience
  • Strong knowledge of immunization workflows and documentation standards
  • Comfortable coaching and holding peers accountable

  • keeps daily and weekly checklists and is a forward thinker
Work Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 7:30-5:30 (some days early start some days late start)
  • Occasional Saturdays
