DEPARTMENT: Surgery JOB TITLE: Certified Surgical Technologist SHIFT: FTE 0.8 1st Shift (64 hours bi-weekly), Required to take call BENEFITS: Benefit Eligible *Sign-On Bonus: Up to $50,000 with 3-year employment agreement COMPETITIVE PAY Shift Differential Weekend Differential JOB SUMMARY Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Essential Functions Exemplifies good customer service. Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative factors that might alter the perioperative phase. Ensures sterile and aseptic technique when opening supplies, setting up for procedures, and maintains throughout procedure. Proficient at cleaning of operating room before and between cases. Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, needles) and follows proper procedure in the event of incorrect count according to policy. Proficient at setting up the sterile field with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medication/solutions needed for the procedure, as well as passing of those instruments and supplies during the procedure. Maintains an orderly and sterile instrument table for the purpose of efficiency and safety. Performs all aspects of patient care, within scope of practice, in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors for patients and staff. Reports any breach in sterility to surgeon and circulating RN per policy. Follows written procedure for steam sterilization, understanding of chemical and biological monitoring. Completes annual education and regulatory requirements, including state and federal regulation Qualifications Experience Minimal of 12-week clinical rotation experience required Skills/Competencies Knowledge of sterile technique. Knowledge of operating room procedures. Willing to learn usage of new equipment and techniques. Education High School graduate Completion of accredited surgical technologist program (Associates Degree) License None Certifications Currently certified as a Certified Surgical Technologist Current CPR certification Qualifications
