DEPARTMENT: Surgery JOB TITLE: Sterile Processing Department Technician SHIFT: FTE 0.8 (64 Hours Bi-Weekly, Day Shift) BENEFITS: Benefit Eligible Competitive Pay Shift Differential Weekend Differential JOB SUMMARY Performs Sterile Processing procedures and duties. Cooperates with Surgery Director. Assists in revising or establishing policies and procedures for Sterile Processing. Responsible to keeping abreast of the latest knowledge, techniques and technological equipment used in the area. Essential Functions Courteous, respectful, and exemplifies good customer service. Regular reliable attendance and flexible hours if needed. Ability to get along with others. Demonstrates proficient use of email and Epic. Follows the standards of operation of the department and is in compliance with the standards set by regulatory agencies and professional standards. Maintains continued education in the field of Central Service operations and equipment through education, literature and seminars. Follows established procedures and standards of practice for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of reusable supplies and equipment. Utilizes proper traffic flow patterns for handling supplies and maintaining clean and dirty areas. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the sterilization process and importance of asepsis. Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual education requirements and continuing education for certification. Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff and vendors. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner Qualifications Experience Minimal or no experience required Knowledge of surgical procedures, asepsis and sterile technique preferred Skills/Competencies Adaptable to changes in policies, procedures, equipment and routines. Is able to work with others, communicate effectively both orally and written. Is able to learn equipment and operation of equipment. Must be able to organize and complete assigned duties in scheduled hours. Is able to wash walls, ceiling, mop floors and do housekeeping duties within the Central Sterile department when housekeeper is off. Education High School Diploma or equivalent Certifications Currently certified as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or working on, or willing to work on certification to be completed after 400 hours of training.
