Job Summary: 

Position is responsible for performing work and maintenance for cars, trucks, construction equipment, and works under Shop Manager. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  •  None

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collect information on vehicle and equipment history, problem with the vehicle, and/or known maintenance or repairs required.
  • Identifies mechanical problems visually and./or with computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Performs tests on specific parts and systems to determine whether they are operating properly.
  • Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists.
  • Plans repairs and timetables for completion; provides Shop Manager with time and cost estimates. Order parts as determined.
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts. 
  • Conducts post-repair and diagnostics and confirms that repairs have been made properly, and that problems have been resolved. 
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

 

Knowledge of Position (Prior to Entry):

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle, construction equipment, and small engine maintenance and repairs.
  • Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to utilize asset tracking software. 
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

Education/Experience: 

  • Technical degree from an accredited institution preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed above.  
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License must be able to pass Company MVR policy.

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Frequent physical activity like climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, and using hands.
  • Work may involve exposure to mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils, harsh weather, poor lighting, tight spaces, and loud noise.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally (with team assistance) and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
