Registered Nurse

Department: Surgical Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose:

2 East cares for聽high鈥慳cuity surgical patients聽who require frequent monitoring, multiple lines/tubes, and complex nursing care.聽

The 32-bed unit specializes in Core Surgical Services, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery. Additional Surgical Populations聽include General Surgery, Trauma, and Plastic Surgery.

2 East is a聽fast鈥憄aced, dynamic聽unit known for High volume and high patient turnover. Nurses will use constant clinical decision-making聽with diverse patient scenarios (including聽medicine overflow聽patients when beds permit).

This unit is a聽strong professional foundation聽for nurses aspiring to:聽

  • ICU roles聽
  • Emergency Department roles聽
  • Other high鈥慳cuity specialties聽

Shifts Available: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Nights

Status Available: Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure

路 Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.

路 BLS.

路 ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Experience

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply

  • Graduation from accredited nursing program.

  • Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.

  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

  • Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
