Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer with strong municipal experience to join a dynamic team of technical and business professionals. The candidate will work directly with township/city staff to successfully manage and implement multi-discipline projects. This position will coordinate, and lead project teams focused on engineering and construction related services for clients primarily located in Michigan. This position would serve primarily as a project Engineer/Assistant Township Engineer for our clients throughout Washtenaw County.
 

Your Key Responsibilities
Much of the primary responsibilities for this candidate will be related to development activity within the community, but the work will be diverse. Below is a list of the primary responsibilities of this role:
•    Attend development related applicant and township staff meetings, including occasional (night) Planning Commission meetings.
•    Perform/coordinate technical reviews of public infrastructure and land development on application submittals; this also includes coordinating specialized technical reviews by others (transportation, structural, photometric, etc.).
•    Ongoing coordination between developer personnel and township and field staff from concept plan through construction of public improvements.
•    Responsible for reviewing program of plot plans/building plans for construction permits.
•    Lead/coordinate design and plan production for public improvement projects, including underground infrastructure, non-motorized pathways, and park improvements.
•    Coordinate, attend preconstruction meetings for Township and developer contracted projects.
•    Coordinate between design and field services throughout the construction phase.
•    Ability to collaborate and provide support to construction services staff and perform intermittent construction oversight will be required.
 

Qualifications
•    Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with project teams as well as clients, including representing clients during public meetings and events.
•    Self-motivated, this role will be the person responsible for keeping projects and activities on track and moving forward.
•    Construction experience is strongly preferred.
•    Proven knowledge and skills of GIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
 

Education and Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
•    5-10 years of civil engineering design experience with an emphasis in municipal services.
•    Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan or ability to achieve within one year of hire


Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
