Position: Cloud Solutions Architect (Cloud SA)
Are you passionate about cloud technology and eager to make a significant impact? We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Cloud Solutions Architect to join our innovative team in direct support of critical NSA missions. In this role, you will be at the forefront of delivering and provisioning secure, scalable hosting environments within a commercial cloud fabric, ensuring seamless enterprise-wide scaling for a diverse range of end users.

Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and Engineer: Utilize your technical expertise to engineer, configure, test, install, integrate, operate, secure, monitor, maintain, and sustain the NSA’s instances of commercial Cloud Service Provider solutions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Perform a variety of tasks spanning network fabrics, including commercial cloud support, customer help desk functions, software integration and migration, integration and testing, documentation development and maintenance, security, network and system monitoring, and configuration and release management.

  • Network Infrastructure: Provision and sustain network infrastructures. Develop, operate, and manage networks in a secure environment enabled by Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Internet Protocol Security (IPSEC), Software Defined Networking (SDN), and/or Virtual Private Network (VPN).

  • Cyber Security: Evaluate and integrate emerging cyber security technologies for production uses, such as Domain Naming Service (DNS), routing, load balancers, data flow technologies, audit capturing tools and techniques, Host-Based Intrusion Detection System (HIDS), Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS), and Anti-Virus scanning.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • An active NSA FSP.

    • Strong troubleshooting abilities for network-related support cases.

    • Proficiency in Cloud Infrastructure Management.

    • Focus on providing guidance and strategic direction rather than hands-on development.

    • Expertise in maintaining cloud policy and implementation.

    • Strong Linux skills, particularly with Centos 7 and/or RHEL 8.

    • Experience with Ansible.

    • Experience administering VMs in OpenStack, VMWare, or AWS.

    • Experience managing and securing VMs with STE/STN and SSP Compliance.

    • Comfortable performing YUM updates, VM reboots, applying STE/STN changes/packages, creating server certificates, and other common Sys Admin tasks.

    • Moderate experience troubleshooting Linux VMs.

    • Experience with Kubernetes/Docker/Rancher.

    • Active Security+ Certification.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.

  • 4 years of additional experience on projects with similar requirements may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.

  • 5 years of experience managing and monitoring large Hadoop clusters (>200 nodes).

  • Hadoop/Cloud System Administration Certification is a plus.

  • Desired:

    • A development mindset.

    • Python Automation knowledge.

    • PKI Certificate/Server Certificate Setup.

    • AWS Experience (e.g., EC2, RDS, etc.).

    • Familiarity with Grafana, Rancher, Rook-Ceph, and NiFi.

    • VMWare Exposure.

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    • Git Experience – push, pull, commit changes to a repo.
