JOB SUMMARY


The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining digital printing presses, including the HP, Oce, Xerox, and Xante to produce high-quality printed materials. The Digital Press Operator ensures the quality and efficiency of the digital printing process, monitors equipment performance, and troubleshoots issues to meet production goals and maintain quality standards. Working with the Vice-President of Digital Print Operations, with digital print team members, and with other Production departments, the Digital Press Operator contributes to company success by efficiently delivering consistent, high-quality print projects to our customers. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

•    Accurately and consistently log jobs in and out of Pace throughout the workday.
•    Review print jackets/orders including specifications, artwork, color profiles, and finishing , requirements. In case of questions or errors, work to clarify and resolve with the appropriate production team member and/or the VP of Digital Print Operations.
•    Load and unload paper, ink and other consumables as required for each print job. Ensure proper handling and storage of printed materials.
•    Set up, configure, and operate digital printing presses to efficiently produce a variety of print projects in accordance with customer specifications.
•    Manage color calibration and profiling to ensure accurate color reproduction throughout the print process.
•    Monitor print jobs for quality and consistency, making adjustments as needed to ensure the final product meets or exceeds lronmark quality standards.
•    Perform routine maintenance on digital print equipment as needed to achieve maximum print quality and press performance.
•    Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise, notifying and collaborating with the VP of Digital Print Operations. Work to minimize downtime and to maintain optimal press performance.
•    Maintain a consistent workflow to meet departmental production targets and deadlines .
•    Use a pallet jack to move pallets with blank or printed stock from one location to another.
•    Implement quality assurance processes to minimize waste and rework.
•    Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
•    Adhere to environmental and regulatory requirements related to printing processes and materials.
•    Maintain accurate records of production runs, equipment settings, and maintenance activities.
•    Report production statistics and issues to supervisors or management.
•    Effectively collaborate with digital print team members and production teams to coordinate workflow and meet production goals.
•    Overtime may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

•    Knowledge of the printing processes and equipment, press specifications and capabilities to produce digital printing.
•    Knowledge of specifications for paper and inks needed to produce all quality levels of printing.
•    Possesses a positive customer-orientation and an ability to adapt/respond to different types of personalities.
•    Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills, able to use lronmark resources to their fullest.
•    Must be a team player that can effectively collaborate with others to meet objectives.
•    Must thrive under tight deadlines and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•    Industry Experience: Must have 2+ years of experience in the Print industry.
•    Digital Press Experience: Must have 2+ years of experience or equivalent in combined training and experience.
•    Education: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•    Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 75% of the time.
•    Must be able to work Mandatory Overtime.
•    Visual acuity to review and verify print inputs and outputs.
•    Manual dexterity to operate printers, computers, and other equipment.
•    Ability to easily navigate the workplace, including offices and production areas, to supervise and collaborate with team members.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with team members and with members of cross-functional departments.
•    Frequently work on projects that require deadlines.
•    Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
