SENIOR TECHNOLOGY TRAINING SPECIALIST
About the Role
The Senior Technology Training Specialist will develop, deliver, and maintain technical training and documentation for commercially available and proprietary software applications. This role combines technical training, instructional design, documentation development, and project coordination to help users effectively adopt and use technology.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience planning, developing, and delivering instructor-led technical training for commercially available and proprietary software applications.
- Experience delivering training to both individual users and groups using adult learning principles.
- Ability to develop technical training materials, including:
- Quick Reference Cards (QRCs)
- Quick Reference Guides (QRGs)
- User guides
- Web-based instructional content
- Training videos
- Interactive learning modules
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot user-defined technical challenges and implement appropriate training or process solutions.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent training initiatives and deadlines.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills when working with internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), users, project teams, and management.
- Ability to plan, track, coordinate, and deliver high-quality technical training initiatives from initiation through completion.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Teams, Copilot, OneNote, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate project plans, status, risks, issues, and updates to the Contract Manager or project leadership.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and provide on-site support when required.
Experience With
- At least five (5) years of experience as a technology trainer supporting proprietary and/or advanced commercial off-the-shelf software applications.
- At least three (3) years of experience developing technical documentation and instructional materials.
- Developing and delivering in-person instructor-led training for commercially available and proprietary software.
- Applying adult learning principles to technical training for professional audiences.
- Developing technical documentation and instructional content for software applications and technical processes.
- Developing video-based and interactive training materials.
- Technical training development tools such as:
- Camtasia
- Articulate 360
- Vyond
- Similar instructional design and multimedia development tools
- Managing training projects from initiation through completion while maintaining schedules, quality standards, and stakeholder expectations.
- Supporting Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Copilot, OneNote, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) or more years of professional experience providing technology training for proprietary and/or advanced commercial software applications.
- Three (3) or more years of experience developing technical documentation.
- Experience supporting enterprise or government technology environments.
- Experience training professional users on complex or highly customized applications.
- Experience designing training programs using adult learning methodologies.
- Experience coordinating training projects involving multiple stakeholders, SMEs, technical teams, and end users.
Essential Job Functions
- Plan, develop, and deliver hands-on instructor-led training for commercially available and proprietary software applications.
- Analyze technical processes and application functionality to determine appropriate training approaches and instructional content.
- Develop training documentation and instructional materials to support software implementation, adoption, and ongoing use.
- Create Quick Reference Cards, Quick Reference Guides, user instructions, web-based content, and other technical documentation.
- Develop training videos and interactive learning modules to support technical processes and application functionality.
- Apply adult learning principles to design effective training for individual users and groups.
- Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts, technical personnel, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure training materials accurately reflect system functionality and business processes.
- Identify and troubleshoot user-defined challenges and determine appropriate instructional or technical solutions.
- Manage multiple training assignments simultaneously while meeting established schedules, deadlines, and quality expectations.
- Track training activities, deliverables, milestones, and project status.
- Communicate project plans, progress, issues, risks, and status updates to the Contract Manager.
- Provide customer-focused support to internal and external stakeholders throughout the training lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate and current training materials as applications, processes, and technologies change.
- Provide on-site support when required by the Maryland Judiciary.
- Perform additional training-related activities necessary to support project requirements and operational needs.
Certifications
- No specific professional certification is required.
- Certifications in instructional design, adult learning, technical training, Microsoft technologies, or related disciplines are preferred but not required.
Work Status
- Full-time engagement.
- Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time.
- Must have flexibility to extend working hours when necessary to meet project deadlines, operational requirements, or approved support needs.
- Extended work may include evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays with appropriate authorization.
- Maximum workload is not to exceed 2,040 hours per year.
- Resource must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Remote work must be performed within the United States unless otherwise approved by the Contract Manager.
- The selected resource must be able to report on-site within 24 hours when required.
Work Location
Hybrid — Annapolis, Maryland- Three (3) days remote per week from a suitable off-site location within the United States.
