Position Objective:

The Supervisor of US provides clinical supervision and oversight of the US service, to include the definition and enforcement of protocols and quality improvement. Patient experience and safety are key drivers in that effort. Specifically, the Supervisor of US coordinates the overall program to ensure customer satisfaction, cost effectiveness, productivity and integration with the various programs within the hospital.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Coordinate daily US operations including intake of patients, medical record entry and auditing. Compiles monthly reports and quarterly analysis. Assists in budget development and monitoring.
  2. Acts as liaison between patients, clinical and volunteer staff, and various outside contacts.
  3. Coordinates patient appointments, facilitates financial issues and clinical situations.
  4. Performs duties of a US technologist according to established standards for US technology in accordance with need of patients and their age groups.
  5. Performs patient and family educations as needed and document accordingly.
  6. Supervises and coaches staff members; coordinates orientation and annual competencies assessments for staff; responsible for staff evaluations, hiring, and discipline up to and including terminations.
  7. Monitors day to day activity of the US service; maintains proper radiation safety and dose to the patient population; maintains CT protocols to provide optimal imaging and lowest patient exposure.
  8. Responds to special customer needs and problems, both internal and external.
  9. Represents the US and radiologic service on process improvement teams and other intra and extra departmental activities.
  10. Provides a departmental environment that is safe, clean and promotes productivity, staff success and an optimal patient experience. Supervises quality assurance and proper orientation/maintenance of US equipment.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Must have successfully graduated from an accredited Ultrasound School and be registered by the ARDMS.
  • Five years of experience working in US service.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Current BLS

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Demands – Heavy

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
