SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Maintenance Apprentice to join our team in Henderson, KY. This entry-level position is designed for individuals eager to develop their skills and knowledge in industrial maintenance within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced maintenance technicians and supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)-

Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment used in the production process.

Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks to minimize equipment downtime. - Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues under the guidance of senior technicians.

Participate in the installation, modification, and upgrading of equipment.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts used. - Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.

Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Support the maintenance team in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Must earn at least a 'C' in each course of the AMT Program

Must meet the attendance requirements set, for both attendance at the college and for attendance at work activities.

Must work 24 working hours per week at the company during the college semester

Must complete 16 hours of classroom hours per week during the college semester

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.

Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a team.

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Physical ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects.

Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS-

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes

Ability to write business reports and correspondence

Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, employees and outside officials to the company

Clear, concise oral and written communication skills

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS- 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, volume, and net present value. Able to apply concepts of algebra and geometry along with basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing)

 

REASONING ABILITY-

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS-

Ability to gather information and perform root cause analysis and problem solving

Ability to lead teams in waste reduction efforts

Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS-

Employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear

Employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, feel; and reach with hands and arms

The employee is occasionally required to sit

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT-

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to high noise levels.
