Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the AQCRT Program Director, the Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) will be responsible for mental health and substance use assessment, wellness services, and crisis prevention. BHS will follow the principles of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and recovery and wellness to engage clients in therapeutic interventions, link them with appropriate social and mental health services in addition to providing linkages to shelter, public benefits and other services to support them on their path to wellness.
Specific Responsibilities
- Works a flexible, full-time schedule to accommodate program/client needs. Evening and weekend hours are required to accommodate a 12/7 day a week schedule. This is a community based highly mobile position.
- Performs intake and comprehensive assessments with adults who may have psychiatric and dual diagnosis disabilities (substance use disorders).
- Provides clinical case management services including evaluations, service plan development, assisting clients with accessing housing, financial, medical, and other needed services. Coordinates with other service providers.
- Provides services to address underlying mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, complex trauma, and addiction within the context of a harm reduction approach and strength-based client centered work.
- Provides crisis prevention planning and crisis intervention and support, as appropriate.
- Conducts aggressive community outreach and engagement to safely provide services to clients sagely within the community, as needed.
- Maintains clinical records after each client contact or service, in accordance with Felton Institutes mandated standards and Antioch City Council requirements.
- Contributes to team meetings and case conferences through presentation of cases, discussions of clinical issues, and exchange of information and ideas.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required to meet program goals and objectives.
Minimum Requirements and Qualification
- Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, or Psychology.
- License or license eligible preferred
- Ability to work cooperatively on a multidisciplinary team, and to work with clients of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
- A minimum of 3 years of case management experience with an adult population psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses preferred.
- Understanding of DSM-5 diagnoses, and appropriate treatment interventions plan that includes service linkage, as well as intervention and personal change goals
- Working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications (i.e., Microsoft word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat)
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain proper documentation as determined by programmatic requirements.
- Ability to prioritize projects and follow through.

Job Type: Full-Time (30 hours per week)
Work Schedule: Onsite
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000 Annually (DOE)

This position is union-represented by SEIU Local 1021 and is subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
