Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and obtain physician approval.

  • Deliver physical therapy interventions consistent with the physician’s orders.

  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and train Restorative Aides.

  • Document evaluations, daily notes, progress notes, and recertifications per state and payer requirements.

  • Communicate patient progress and plans with the interdisciplinary team; attend care conferences and utilization reviews.

  • Educate families and nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver techniques for safe discharge.

  • Recommend and facilitate ordering of durable medical equipment (braces, walkers, etc.).

  • Participate in in-service education for facility staff and report equipment issues promptly.

Required License / Certification

  • Current, valid Physical Therapist (PT) license in California (or eligibility to obtain)
